JAMMU Oct 25: Bhagwan Sri Dhanwantri Jayanti-cum-National Ayurvedic Day was celebrated today with devotion by professionals and institutions of Ayurvedic System of Medicines.
On the occasion, a grand programme was organised by Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu. In this programme, Ayurvedic Physicians, retired doctors belonging to all associations of Ayurvedic doctors, in-service doctors and Paramedics and staff of Govt Ayurvedic Hospital and from Health Department took part actively. Hawan on the occasion was performed.
Former MLA Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Yash Pal Sharma, HoD Botany Jammu University, was the special guest.
Dr Sunanda Raina, Principal Government Medical College Jammu and Govt Ayurvedic Medical College, presented floral tributes to God Dhanwantri while Dr Taran Singh, Medical Superintendent of Govt Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu and Shreyance Jain, noted social worker of the State, spoke on the occasion.
Regional Institute of Ayurveda, Govt of India, under the leadership of Dr V P Deep, Assistant Director, organised an exhibition-cum-sale of publications of the institute on the occasion.
Dr K L Sharma, former Director ISM; Dr Kashmir Singh, former Dy Director; Dr Rajnish Sharma, President Ayurved Utthan Mandal; Dr Mahesh Sharma, General Secretary Indigenous Medicines Organisation; Dr Varinder Mahajan, Chairman Charak Research Centre, staff and students of Govt Ayurvedic Medical College participated in the program.
Jammu Kashmir Chapter of All India Ayurvedic congress celebrated Dhanwantri i Jayanti/National Ayurveda Day, with devotion and tradition. Dhanwantri Vandna was followed by traditional Havan.
The impressive function was attended by large number of Ayurvedic professionals. Speaking on the occasion, Dr B D Gupta, state president of the Ayurvedic Congress, expressed concern and anguish against the policy of apathy and discrimination against Ayurveda in the State.
Dr H N Patwari, Dr T R Gupta and others also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to Lord Dhanwantri. Dr Kartar Singh conducted proceedings of the programme.
Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research and Vishwa Ayurved Parishad organizes Dhanwantri Jayanti in JIAR. Dhanwantri Puja & Havan were organized by administration with the students, staff, faculty members and Executive members of Vishwa Ayurved Parishad.
On this occasion “Elocution” competition and “Poster” presentation competition were held among the students on the topic ” Ayurveda for longevity”. The awards were distributed among the winner students by Chairperson JIAR, Suman Sharma.
General Secretary of VAP presented vote of thanks with special contributions by Dr Paramveer Singh Principal, Ritesh Sharma, Ravish Sharma and others.
Dhanwantri Jayanti was also celebrated today in the premises of Rahul Pharma Gangyal where large numbers of patients suffering from arthritis and allied ailments were given consultation and free medicines.
Dr Mahesh Chander Sharma, General Secretary Indigenous Medicines Organisation, who was the lead speaker on the occasion, said big companies have commercialised majority of the medicines and are using chemicals/synthetics in its formulations in the name of so called excipients. Ministry of AYUSH needs to develop herbal excipients which are the need of the hour, he added.
Dr Virender Mahajan CEO of Rahul Pharma, described Lord Dhanwantri as divine propagator of Ayurveda, who is conferred with the virtues of granting health and wealth. Kapil Kaul presented the vote of thanks.
Indigenous Medicines Organisation (IMO) commemorated Dhanwantri Jayanti , the creator of Ayurvedic system of medicines. The function was held under the chairmanship of Dr K K Gandotra former Deputy Director, ISM in which large number of professional participated.
While paying floral tributes, Dr Gandotra stressed the gathering to follow the path shown by Lord Dhanwantri and serve the ailing people selflessly with spirit of dedication. Dr T R Sandal, senior most member of IMO stressed on the need to educate the people about the personnel health.
Dr Surinder Gupta ex district officer, ISM in his address said the best tributes to lord Dhanwantri would be to streamline the Department of ISM and Ayurvedic and Unani Colleges in J&K. He demanded creation of infrastructure in different departments as per CCIM norms. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Ashok Sharma.
