SRINAGAR, Dec 3: Stressing upon the officers to make policing people centric, Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said that people’s cooperation is must to strengthen the efforts of police and achieve desired results in the policing.
Rajendra was addressing a meeting of police officers of Pulwama and Shopian districts at District Police Lines Pulwama. During his visit to the district, he was accompanied by Special Director General of Police, Coordination/Law and Order. Dr. S.P. Vaid. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been constantly endeavoring to make policing people centric. Public is epicenter of our force and we need their cooperation at every level to make the efforts fruitful, he added.
The meeting discussed law and order situation in the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian, besides progress achieved in the drive against various crimes. He said drug abuse is posing a great challenge to the police and we have to brace up to accelerate our efforts against the menace. He stressed upon the officers to bring awareness among the people about disastrous effects of drugs, besides taking legal action against persons involved in malpractices.
Rajendra emphasized the need for better coordination among different ranks and gearing up subordinates to ensure peace and order in the districts. He said vigil needs to be maintained on the suspicious elements to foil subversive acts, hampering the normal life of the people.
Special DG, Dr. S. P. Vaid asked the officers to have a pragmatic approach towards emerging situations. He said that timely action by a field officer can help to defuse the tensions and save human lives. He also asked to avoid collateral damages during counter terrorism operations.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendents of Police, Rayees Mohammad Bhat and Tahir Saleem Khan, Additional Superintendents of Police, Afroz Ahmad and Azhar Bashir Baba, SDPOs of twin districts and other police officers.
