JAMMU, Oct 6: Director General of Police (DGP), Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned a welfare loan/relief exceeding Rs 1.7 crore for the benefit of 140 police personnel.
He has also given his approval for meritorious scholarships, recognizing the achievements of 195 children of serving police personnel who excelled in their class 12 examinations.
Under an order, a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh each has been sanctioned for 40 police personnel to aid in the marriage expenses of their sons and daughters. Furthermore, Rs 1 lakh each has been granted to 49 police personnel for their own marriage expenses.
The welfare of police personnel and their families’ medical needs has not been overlooked, as Rs 49.5 lakh has been allocated to assist 43 Police personnel in covering medical treatment expenses, ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lakh.
Additionally, Rs 2.9 lakh has been allotted for the medical treatment of eleven police personnel.
In an effort to support the higher education aspirations of police personnel’s children, the top cop has also sanctioned welfare loans totalling Rs 11 lakh for eight police personnel.
It’s worth noting that the welfare loans offered to Police personnel are refundable and are deducted from their salaries in monthly instalments, without any interest. These funds are allocated from the Central Police Welfare Fund (CPWF).
Meanwhile, the DGP has sanctioned meritorious scholarships amounting to over Rs 12.56 lakh for 195 high-achieving wards of serving police personnel, who scored above 80% in their 12th-grade examinations during the academic session of 2022-23. Rs 7,200 each has also been granted to 72 wards with 90% or higher marks, while Rs 6,000 each has been awarded to 123 wards scoring 80% or higher.
