DGP sanctions welfare loan, relief

SRINAGAR, Oct 1: Continuing with an aim to provide welfare measures for police personnel and to provide financial assistance to meet their urgent needs, the Director General of Police DGP Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over Rs 4.5 crore of welfare loan and relief in favour of 343 serving officers and personnel of J&K Police.
He has also sanctioned Welfare Relief of over Rs. 7.50 lakh in favour of 40 retired/NoKs of deceased police personnel.
Welfare loan of Rs 58 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of 56 police personnel to meet the expenses of self-treatment or for the treatment of their dependents. The amount sanctioned for the medical treatment ranges from rupees one lakh to rupees three lakhs. Besides, welfare relief of rupees 2.85 lakh in favour of eleven Police personnel has also been sanctioned.
Welfare loan ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of 270 personnel for the purpose of their own marriage, or for marriage of their wards. Similarly, welfare loan of Rs. 22.50 lakhs has been sanctioned in favour of 18 police personnel for pursuing higher education of their wards and Rs 50 thousands has been sanctioned in favour of one police person for circumcision of his ward.
The welfare loan sanctioned to the Police personnel is refundable and is recovered in monthly installments from their salaries without any interest; however welfare relief sanctioned is non-refundable. The welfare loan/relief has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund.
The DGP, has also sanctioned welfare relief of Rs 7.85 lakh in favour of 40 retired/NoKs of deceased police personnel to meet their urgent financial needs. The amount has been sanctioned out of retired police policemen welfare fund.
