DGP sanctions scholarship for wards of martyrs, serving cops

JAMMU, Apr 25: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned scholarship for the wards of martyrs and serving police personnel.
According to a press release, continuing with its efforts to boost the morale and support to the wards of martyrs, retired and serving police personnel, Police Headquarters J&K sanctioned scholarship for the wards of police personnel, who lost their lives in violence/militancy related incidents in the State. Police Headquarters also sanctioned meritorious scholarships in favour of wards of serving police personnel under different categories.
As a part of this, the DGP Dilbag Singh sanctioned Rs 2.76 lakh in favour of 41 wards of those police personnel who had laid down their lives in violence and militancy related incidents in the State. The scholarship was sanctioned for the academic year 2018-19 out of Central Police Education Fund.
Out of these 41 wards, Rs 12,000 each have been sanctioned in favour of three wards who are pursuing post graduation degrees and Rs 10,000 each have been sanctioned in favour of 12 wards of martyrs who are studying in higher secondary or pursuing graduation. Similarly, Rs 6,000 each have been sanctioned in favour of 16 wards who are studying in middle or secondary classes and Rs 2,400 each have been sanctioned for 10 wards who are studying in primary classes.
