SRINAGAR, Sept 13: With an aim to provide financial succor to the families of the Police personnel who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 1.77 crore as special welfare relief, ex-gratia relief and financial assistance for NoKs of martyred and deceased police personnel.
The DGP sanctioned grant of ex-gratia relief of rupees 38 lakh in favour of dependents/legal heirs of martyr SI (M) Farooq Ahmad Mir and special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Martyr Ct Sarfraz Ahmad who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack. He has also sanctioned financial assistance of rupees 50 thousand in favour of NoKs of Martyr DySP Parveen Kumar in connection with the marriage ceremony of his daughter.
Similarly, the special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased SI Naresh Kumar, ASI Ajeet Singh, HC(M) Manzoor Ahmad & HC Mohammad Razaq and Ct Aman Bandral. The deceased personnel have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service.
Besides, the DGP has sanctioned special welfare relief of Rs 6 lakh in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased SPO Bashir Ahmad Parray who passed away during the course of his engagement with the department. Lso welfare relief of rupees 50 thousand has been sanctioned in favour of retired SI Ali Mohammad to defray the expenses incurred on his treatment for life consuming ailment.
Rupees one lakh each has already been paid to NoKs of these martyred/deceased Police personnel and Rs fifty thousand for SPO for performing their last rites through concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.
