DGP reviews security arrangements for Amarnathji Yatra

Jammu, June 8: DGP K. Rajendra Kumar today  held a meeting with Jammu based officers at PCR Conference Hall, Jammu in order to review the security scenario in view of the ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. He also reviewed the law and order situation in Jammu province
He stressed upon all the officers that proper briefing be given to the officers/officials to be deployed for law and order. DGP also stressed that District Special Branch and other intelligence units be activated in such a manner so that advance intelligence is generated. He advised for use of non-lethal weapons while dealing with the law and order situation. He said that supervisory officers shall personally control the Law & Order problems to ensure that maximum restrain is maintained.
He further directed supervisory officers to conduct touring in their respective areas to meet and interact with general public and also hold Civil Society Committee /Co-ordination Committee meetings regularly.
He advised district SSPs to ensure that adequate Police/ Security arrangements be made in their respective districts for the smooth conduct and safety / security of Shri Amarnath Ji yatries for which adequate manpower has already been provided by PHQ.
He directed the IGP Traffic and District SSPs that the checking of documents of Yatri vehicle should be conducted at one place – Lakhanpur only.  No vehicle should be stopped by Traffic Police personnel/ local police enroute from Lakhanpur to Srinagar. However, they can take action on Yatri vehicle if found involved in visible offences.
On the border management front, DGP stressed upon the District SSPs of   Samba, Kathua and Jammu to lay Joint Nakas on all the infiltration routes. All Border Police Stations/ Police Posts, VDC members, be strengthened and proper briefing be given to them by supervisory offices regularly regarding nature of duties to be performed by them. Night patrolling on National Highway be conducted and a close liaison be maintained with all forces deployed in their area of jurisdictions. Any inputs related to infiltration be disseminated with all concerned on real time basis. He also advised district SSPs/ SSP CID CI Jammu to mobilise their all resources particularly in border areas for collection of intelligence related information for prevention of infiltration from across the border.
