DGP Home Guards, HWOH delegation call on Governor

SRINAGAR, Oct 26: S. Gopal Reddy, DGP, Home Guards, called on Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Reddy briefed the Governor about the ongoing activities and training programmes of Home Guards. He also discussed the functioning of the Central Training Institutes in Jammu and Kashmir and available infrastructure for the organization.
The Governor advised Reddy to ensure that all volunteers  are provided high quality training  which will equip them to effectively meet the challenges posed by disasters.
A delegation of Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline, Bijbehara, led by its Chairman, Javed Ahmad Tak also called on Governor.
Tak urged the Governor to intervene for putting in place the Jammu and Kashmir State Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities and early framing of its Rules; and the appointment of a full time Disability Commi-ssioner who is not below the rank of Secretary to the Government.
To rehabilitate victims of pellet injuries, he urged the Governor to help in urgent medical rehabilitation of the pellet injury victims including financial aid to meet their huge medical expenses on regular basis, deputing a team of rehabilitation professionals to prepare the disabled youth for leading life with dignity, referring youth with fresh disabilities to renowned rehabilitation centres outside the State and special compensation and monthly/recurring assistance to them under social security scheme.
The Governor assured the delegation that all their grievances will be taken up with the Minister for Social Welfare.
