RAMBAN, Apr 13: The Director General (DG) of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Manoj Yadava today inspected the newly commissioned railway line and stations between Banihal and Sangaldan in Ramban district.
He is on a two-day visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir beginning today.
Accompanied by officers and officials of RPF and Northern Railway, the DG RPF reached Banihal Station on a special inspection rail car from Srinagar.
During his visit, the DG, RPF inspected the railway station and RPF posts in Banihal, Khari, Sumbar and Sangaldan.
He also inspected the deployment of Railway Protection Force and security at Banihal, Khari, Sumbar and Sangaldan.
Post inspection of newly commissioned railway lines and stations between Banihal and Sangaldan in Ramban district, the DG, RPF will visit Srinagar, Budgam and Baramulla railway stations on Sunday.
The 48.1 km long Banihal-Sangaldan stretch of the country’s most ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project was dedicated to the Nation by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Jammu visit on February 20.
According to Northern Railways, the work on the remaining railway line between Katra and Sangaldan is likely to be completed by June 2024.
The DG RPF was accompanied by Northern Railway Chief Area Manager Srinagar Saqib Yousuf, IRCON GM Lokesh Gupta, AGM IRCON Alok Tripathi, IRCON AGM Electrical Vankatesh and others.
