JAMMU, Dec 21: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) today took out a procession in Jammu City against the hike in the prices of Government ration and non availability of sugar since past 3 months.
While addressing the protesting workers, DFSS president, Ashok Gupta strongly condemned the State Government for unilaterally increasing the prices of atta and rice at ration depots while Central Government is providing the same on earlier prices. He said that bordering States of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are also selling atta and rice on the earlier prices and no hike has been made than how the State of J&K is selling the ration goods on higher prices.
Gupta should clarify on the matter as to how and on what grounds the prices were hiked and who took the decision of burdening the poor. He stated that in the current scenario of demonetization when people are reeling under the affect of no cash, the increase in ration prices has added to the woes of people, as ration depots don’t have the POS.
Gupta warned the people who are involved in the act of black marketing that if this unlawful process is not stopped then Dogra Front and Shiv Sena will take the matter in their own hands. He further accused the Government for discriminating with Jammu region stating that on Diwali, which is the biggest festival of Hindus, no extra sugar was given by the CAPD department but at the time of EID, an extra quota of sugar was given to the people of Kashmir.
