JAMMU, Dec 20: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) under the leadership of their president, Ashok Gupta, held a protest here at Rani Park against the CAPD Department for non-supply of ration in Government depots and slashing the name of people from the ration list.
The protesters alleged that poor people under BPL category have been struggling to find their names in the ration list due to which they are not able to avail their ration quota. Carrying empty utensils in their hands, they raised slogans against the CAPD Minister.
While speaking on the occasion, Ashok Gupta flayed the Government and the CAPD Department for not supplying the ration. “The ration depots are for the people who cannot afford the ration on market prices and slashing the names of these people from the ration list is nothing less than an attack on their lives”, he added.
Gupta said that due to non-availability of the ration, the people were facing lots of problems especially BPL families. He came down heavily on the Government for not implementing the NFS Bill in the State.
Gupta demanded 10 kg atta per member to each family, as 7 kg per member is not sufficient and all the BPL and APL ration card holders should get the benefit of the Food Security Bill. He also demanded inclusion of edible oil, sugar, salt, pulses, vegetables, LPG and kerosene oil in the NFSA from the State Govt side.
