JAMMU, July 9: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DF&SS) held protest here today and demanded reservation of seats for PoJK refugees and Kashmiri Pandits (KPs).
The workers of DF&SS led by President Ashok Gupta held protest and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
While speaking, Gupta said that constituencies were earlier identified to please two families. “Our suggestion is that the population should not be the sole criteria. The terrain, its vastness, accessibility and scattered population should be taken into consideration and accordingly new constituencies should be identified”, he added.
He demanded political reservation for PoJK refugees, three seats for Kashmiri Pandits, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and other neglected people.
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes communities must get adequate judicious representation, he said, adding that reservation should be based on settled criteria, which should be followed in a transparent manner.
Abhishek, Birbal, Sushil, Prem, Kalu, Nirmal, Lovely and many others were present during the protest.
