JAMMU: Drug and Food Control Organization conducted a special drive in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi to check unfare trade practices, misuse of habit forming drugs and illegal sale of medicines.
Assistant Controllers Drugs, Munish Gupta, Rajesh Angurala alongwith inspection staff carried out the inspections of around 50 establishments w and 36 different drug samples comprising of antibiotics, analgesics & antipyretics, antihypertensives and veterinary drugs were lifted from retail/wholesale drug sale establishments and referred to Drug Testing Laboratory for opinion w.r.t their identity , purity & strength.
Operation of 4 drug sale establishments was disallowed by issuance of on-spot closure notices & 6 numbers of establishments were show cause notices for violations of different provisions under Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 & rules thereunder.
The dealers of the drug sale establishments have been warned to desist from unethical trade practices and to strictly follow the provisions of the act. Further the medicine vendors were directed to provide proper storage conditions so that properties of drugs are preserved throughout their shelf life. The medicine traders were also sensitized to maintain sale/purchase records of scheduled formulations particularly H & H1 as per legal provisions.
