REASI, Sept 30: All India Devotional Song Competition, as part of Navratra Festival 2019, was inaugurated today by Chairman and MD J&K Bank RK Chhibber and Chief Administrative Officer Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital Brigadier (Dr) Manmohan Harjai at Yog Ashram Complex Katra by lighting a traditional lamp.
The inauguration was held in presence of celebrity singer Shanker Sawhney.
On first day of the preliminary round of competition, Ayush Singh from Reasi bagged 1st position and Amritsar brothers Kirpal and Rashpal clinched 2nd position. The third position was held jointly by Sushmita from Jammu and Ananya from Udhampur.
A total of 12 participants auditioned in which 3 participants were from outside State and 9 participants were from J&K. The top performers of the day were rewarded with cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively by the chief guest RK Chibber and guest of honour Brigadier (Dr) Manmohan Harjai.
While speaking, Chibber announced an additional cash amount of Rs 3100 to each participant singer who qualified today’s audition and performed on the stage.
The competition was adjudged by a panel of experts in music including celebrity singer Shanker Sawhney, Dr Usha Bhagati, Dr Surinder Kumar Sharma and Dr CL Verma.
Shanker Sawhney, known for Maha Mrytunjaya Jaap which has got 15 crore hits and is known for his many hit songs, enthralled the audience with his melodious songs. Former winners of the competition Ravi kumar and Sanjeet Thomas too enthralled the audience and presented their presentations.
The proceedings of the competition were conducted by Chairman of the competition Rakesh Wazir. He said that popular singers have been lined up for performances as guest singers. Amarjit Singh Bijli will perform tomorrow on the stage besides being there as a judge, he added.
The All India Devotional Song Competition is being organized by SMVD Shrine Board and Department of Tourism, J&K Bank and Shraddha Mh One with active support of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Spiciality Hospital, Surya Milk, Tiwari Super Speciality Hospital Farokhabad, Pure Roots Herbal, Nidesh Builders Private Limited Jammu, Divinity, 92.7 Big FM, Yog Ashram Trust, District Administration Reasi and the local community.
Among others present were Arun Gandotra, President J&K Bank, Jatinder Kumar Gupta, Commandant CRPF, Anand Pal Singh, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Naresh Kumar Singh, ASP Katra, Vivek Shekhar, DySP Katra, Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand ji Maharaj, Sudha Gupta, Virender Kesar and Parbhat Singh.
