BHADERWAH, Aug 20: Braving inclement weather conditions, thousands of devotees today joined Chhari Mubarak of 5000 year old Kailash Yatra from Bhaderwah.
Former Deputy CM and senior BJP leader, Dr. Nirmal Singh flagged off the Chhari from historic Vasuki Naag Temple, Gatha.
Amidst the chanting of slogans in the praise of Vasuki Naag deity, the Yatra passed through Bhaderwah town where SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, SP Bhadarwah, Vinod Sharma, president Sanathan Dharm Sabha, Satish Kotwal and Dr. Nirmal Singh along with locals accorded a warm send off to the pilgrims.
After a night stay at Hayan (Nalthi), the Yatra will reach holy destination on August 22, where the devotees will take a dip in the sacred water of Kailash Kund.
The pilgrimage is considered as one of the toughest one as the pilgrims have to trek 21 km steep Kailash Mountains Range in Doda district to reach 14,700 feet high Holy ‘Kund’ (lake), where they take a dip in the ice-cold water to have the blessings of ‘Serpent God’.
