JAMMU, Dec 19: Parade Mandi Association (PMA) has raised the issue of cleanliness and poor sanitation in the oldest vegetable and fruit market of Jammu.
In a press conference here today PMA president, Subash Chander Sharma said that Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has recently hiked the rent of shops and kiosks at Parade Mandi but so far has done nothing there as drains in the area are still in dilapidated condition and the path is also broken which immediately needs tiling work.
“Poor people have kiosks and small places in the Mandi where they sell vegetables and fruits to earn a livelihood but like the Mandis of other smart cities, there is nothing here like developments and the concerned JMC has even not thought over this so far,” Sharma maintained adding that JMC has no check over the illegal Rehris at Indira Chowk areas and at other areas in the city.
He further said that buildings and shops at Parade Sabzi Mandi area needs immediate repair and urged upon the Lieutenant Governor of J&K to intervene.
