SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri, today said development of far-flung areas of the State is topmost priority of the Government.
He was speaking at a meeting convened to review status of developmental works in Kargil district, which was attended by Chairman J&K Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, Commissioner Secretary PWD Rohit Kansal, Vice-Chairman J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Syed Muhammad Bakir, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, SEs of R&B, PMGSY and PWD of Kargil district.
The Minister asked the concerned to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of works in time so that process of funding and execution goes well according to the plan. He directed the officers to submit DPR of Kargil- Zanaskar highway by December of this year. He also asked the officers to identify at least one project in Kargil and Zanaskar which will be funded up to the tune of Rs 2.50 crore under NABARD and were also directed to identify bridges which can be covered under Central Road Fund (CRF).
During the meeting, Veeri sought details of different ongoing works under centrally sponsored schemes in the district and directed the officers to complete them within the stipulated timeframe.
The Minister also reviewed snow clearance preparedness of Mechanical Engineering Department Kargil.
