SRINAGAR, July 30: Veteran trade union leader, Mir Ghulam Rasool today asked the people of the Valley especially youth not to get misled by the propaganda of Pakistan where democracy has not been allowed to flourish during last 70 years when it came into existence after partition of India.
He said no leader and ruler in Pakistan was allowed to complete his tenure in office and they were either thrown out in coup or assassinated which even created an instability in the Sub Continent. He said under these circumstances depending on Pakistan is a great blunder and the people of Kashmir should instead work for flourishing of democratic values in the State as well as country.
He said it is the duty of all of us to live to the expectations of freedom fighters and for those values for which they laid down their lives as in democracy people are ultimate power. He said Pakistan has been destabilized by over throwing governments and its destabilization can pose a threat not only to that country but its immediate neighbours also. Ridiculing the political developments in Pakistan Mir said when its leadership could not sustain democracy in their own country how can they be faithful and well wisher of people of Kashmir.
He said no leader in Pak right from Liyaqat Ali Khan to Nawaz Sharief was spared and democracy never allowed to flourish. Under these circumstances people of Kashmir should not expect any thing from such a nation.
