MENDHAR, June 22: Senior National Conference leader and president, Pirpanjal Zone of the party, Javed Rana while expressing serious concern over the miseries of the people of Deridabsi (LoC village) accused the incumbent Union Territory Administration and the BJP Govt at the Centre of adopting vindictive politics by neglecting the National Conference strongholds.
He expressed this while addressing media after meeting a delegation from Deridabsi who met him at his residence here today. The delegation submitted a memorandum to him highlighting their woes and miseries.
The senior NC leader said that border people have been deprived of the full fruits of independence since 1947 the unfortunate division not only of territory but of the people of this region with relatives on both sides of the LoC in this region. He said that Deridabsi, a border area continues to reel under acute backwardness even today with the people of the area suffering the most be it ceasefire violation or cross border terrorism.
While saluting these people for maintaining integrity of the nation as first responders on along LoC, defending the borders and maintaining peace under adverse conditions, Rana said that he had demanded earlier too and reiterate that the Govt must take serious measures to remove the barrier so that the people could meet their relatives without any hassle.
“I had initiated measures for laying roads and other infrastructure projects in Deridabsi area, but the same stand abandoned by the incumbent Govt. He said that it is an irony that people of this area have to go to Mankote for getting their works done despite Mendhar being in its close vicinity and comfortable for the people. He demanded that Govt must detach Deridabsi from it and bring it under Mendhar administrative unit.
“I appeal to the Govt at the Centre to initiate immediate measures for the uplifting of this neglected area be it communication, electricity, water supply, adequate construction of bunkers, etc. Moreover, the projects initiated by the NC Govt that were abandoned by the UT Administration be taken up on priority,” he demanded.
