JAMMU, Dec 12: A deputation of 47 shop allottees at Fruit Market, Narwal, today met Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, and apprised him of their grievances.
The deputation members told Deputy CM that they were allotted shop sites vide advertisement notice No JDA/CA-20 dated 2nd July 2013 at Fruit Market Narwal, Jammu and they have paid premium as per schedule fixed by JDA.
They told him that at the time of advertisement there were no high tension wire poles on the shop sites but after the allotment of shops high tension wire poles were installed by PDD . “In a meeting, VC JDA has agreed that these high tension wire poles shall be made underground”, they said and regretted that nothing was done till date to do the same.
The deputation members told the Minister that they requested many times to JDA to develop sites as per their plan by installing electric poles, toilet complex, drainage system, etc at shop sites but despite various reminders, VC  JDA  is not taking any steps for the development of these shop sites which have been allotted after charging huge premium. They said that if JDA is facing difficulty in developing the shop sites as per plan, it should pay interest on the premium paid by the shopkeepers.
“That as per VC JDA’s Letter dated 27-12-2013, JDA has demanded premium rent @ Rs 3 per sq ft per month. It is pertinent to mention here that for other shop sites JDA is charging ground rent but in our case VC JDA is directing us to pay premium rent”, they said and urged the Minister to issue orders to JDA to charge ground rent from them.
Stating that some person is claiming that the site of 49 shops has already allotted to him and he has even got stay order from the court, they urged the Deputy CM to look into the matter personally and if there is any land dispute, allot them shops at any other site developed by JDA.
