JAMMU, Mar 26: A deputation led by Prof. Youdhvir Singh, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Corporator met K.K Sharma, Advisor to Governor Satya Pal Malik and highlighted the problems of seven border villages of Samba district which fall between Barota to Rangoora.
The deputation said that refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars were allotted land in these villages but now due to erosion of land from flooded Basantar and Devika rivers residents of these villages are suffering a lot as their agriculture land has been badly affected.
The deputation demanded that a protection wall should be erected at these rivers so that the flood water may not cause havoc to the villages which on one hand puts villagers to losses and on the other hand creates open space for infiltration.
The deputation also said that JMC Commissioner should be directed to provide Safai Karamcharis to the four newly created JMC Wards at an earliest to ensure cleanliness.
The Advisor issued instructions to the concerned officers and assured that the issues raised by the deputation shall be resolved at an earliest.
Bhagwan Dass Choudhary and Rumaal Singh, both retired MES officers and others were also in the deputation.
