IT Deptt realizes Rs 224 cr from J&K under IDS

JAMMU, Oct 1: Income Tax Department has realized whopping Rs 224.52 crore from J&K under the Income Declaration Scheme, which came to an end on September 30.
An official spokesman said that J&K has made remarkable achievement in not only achieving the original targets but exceeding revised targets as well given to it by the Ministry of Finance for Income Declaration Scheme.
Total amount of income declared under the scheme by the assessees from the State stood at Rs 224.52 crore from 611 declarations made. This figure may further increase after the inclusion of declarations and amount declared directly to CPC, Bangalore, which was also an authorized authority for direct declarations to maintain complete confidentiality.
The J&K has remained on top among the other States of the North West Region comprising of economically much better stations like Amritsar, Jallandhar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bhatinda, Chandigarh of Punjab and other stations from Himachal Pardesh, Haryana which comes within the North West Region controlled from Chandigarh.
Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Sangeeta Gupta, while acknowledging the achievements of the department, has lauded the cooperation extended by all the stake holders including the assessees of the State, Tax Professionals, Chartered Accountants, Advocates, Jewellers Associa-tions and Various Trade/Beopar Mandals.
