REASI, Mar 9: District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi-Sushma Chauhan today chaired a meeting of all political parties in connection with National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Program (NERPAP) launched by Election Commission of India. The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate the importance of the voters to check for the authentications.
DEO informed that the program aims to arrive at a totally error-free and authenticated electoral rolls involves linking of EPIC (Electoral Photo Identity Card) with Aadhar data of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). DEO added that the focus will be on improving image quality of electors and correcting errors and the program expects to weed out duplicate, fake and ineligible voters, and voters who have shifted to other regions from the databases. The projects will also acquire mobile numbers and emails of voters to send them poll related notifications further added DEO
She said that the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will go house to house to collect the detail. She called upon the political parties to create awareness among people about this program and also to appoint booth level agents of their party to coordinate with BLOs for smooth implementation of the program.
Various developmental issues were also raised during the meeting. DC assured the representatives of that their problems and issues will be solved at an earliest.
