JAMMU, Mar 15: Unemployed Dental Surgeons’ Association today urged the Government to advertise and fill up the posts lying vacant in different hospitals of the State.
In a statement, the Association also called upon the Government to create new posts of Dental Surgeons immediately.
They said the last recruitment drive by the Public Services Commission (PSC) was conducted in 2008 and since then no recruitment of Dental Surgeons has taken place.
“On the one hand, the Government is opening new Medical institutions while on the other, there is no proper policy to absorb the unemployed Dental Surgeons,’’ they said, adding that healthcare delivery system in the rural areas required a proper overhaul.
They said strong resentment was brewing among the unemployed Dental Surgeons over denial of job opportunities. They said, the Government should immediately refer the vacancies to the PSC or, otherwise, they would be forced to take to the streets.
Those present in the Association meeting included Dr Asif Iqbal Chowdhary, president, Dr Muzamil Khan, spokesman, Dr Manoj Sharma, secretary, Dr Manmohan Singh Jamwal, Dr Gulshan Kumar, Dr Raghav Sharma, Dr Komal Sharma, Dr Richa Malhotra, Dr Deepika Parihar, Dr Shikha Sharma, Dr Tanvi Mahajan, Dr Shweta Bhat and Dr Nadeem Hassan.
