Sir,
As per reports, till date more than 2000 patients got themselves examined in various hospitals in Jammu to ascertain whether or not they suffered from the dreaded dengue disease. There is no authentic data available as to how many got examined in private hospitals or outside the Jammu division.
Whatever the case, the numbers suggest that the killer disease this year is on the rise. The reasons are obvious. The dirt, filth, accumulated water, left over stagnant water in coolers, pits, etc are directly or indirectly responsible for breeding of the dreaded mosquito and general unawareness or carelessness to take preventive steps are contributing to the spreading of this disease. It is unlikely that fogging and that also repeatedly can be undertaken in all the areas.
However, children, especially School going should be properly made to know about this disease and how to prevent it. Mosquito repellents must be provided in schools and ensured that they are applied on the exposed parts of the body. The same could be used by others also in houses , offices etc. General awareness programmes by the concerned agencies are nowhere to be seen , that is interesting.
Yours etc….

Gangyal
