JAMMU, Oct 11: Congress party today alleged that demonetization exercise of the Modi led BJP Government has proved as biggest ever `fraud’ of converting black money into white favouring big Industrial Houses and others in the Corporate sector while GST exercise has caused serious damage to the Indian economy.
Addressing a press conference here today, All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and former MP, Dr Ajoy Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley have caused extensive damage to the economy of the country with the exercise of demonetization. Big promises were made with the innocent people of this country by the `clever’ leaders of the BJP but all their claims were proved white lie. The economy suffered massive damage. The poor and middle class families became victim of it while rich people including big Industrialists and others got the golden opportunity to convert their black money into the white. The country was befooled by the BJP leaders on the issue of demonetization. Dr Ajoy termed it as biggest ever `scam’ in the history of India and claimed the people of the country will never spare BJP leadership for it.
Commenting on the GST, the AICC leader claimed that this unplanned move of the Modi Govt has caused tremendous damage to the economy of the country and virtually forced the small and medium traders/ business of the country to commit suicide. The small trader are now up in arms against Modi Government because this GST move will ultimately help the big industrialists and the Corporate world. Facing brunt of the people of the country, this Government has been forced to come on back foot and announce partial roll back on GST.
Referring to the `Zumlas’ of Narendra Modi, ” Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga and will act like Chowkidar of Public”, Dr Ajoy said what kind of Chowkidari, Mr Modi is doing when some people around him and their family members are indulging in mal-practices. He alleged that people want to know how company of Jay Shah, son of BJP chief Amit Shah, secured tremendous growth just in last two years and how heavy loans were provided to him and some more favourites in Gujarat. He also referred to the undue loans provided to a blue eyed man of his party minister. He demanded that Modi has failed to keep check on the activities some people around him.
AICC leader demanded that Amit Shah should step down from his position as his family was facing serious allegations. The Prime Minister should hold impartial inquiry into the role of these top people in the party.
Alleging that Modi’s anti-corruption slogans were an `eyewash’, Dr Ajoy said, “If PM) has failed to notice a scandal, what is expected of such a Prime Minister and how will he safeguard the country?”
He said the PM has been maintaining “a studied silence on every scam”.
The Income Tax, the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI should be assigned the task of probing Jay Shah’s businesses, including those of Temple Enterprise, under the supervision of two Supreme Court judges, Dr Ajoy demanded.
AICC leader also questioned the Government for deploying Union Minister Piyush Goyal to address the press on allegations against Amit Shah’s son and claimed that people were “pained” after Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta decided to defend Jay Shah.
PCC senior vice president Sham Lal Sharma, vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla and PCC spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma also accompanied Dr Ajoy Kumar.
