Demonetisation has no impact on Kashmir situation: Soz

SRINAGAR, Nov 23:  Former Union minister and veteran Congress leader Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz has said that Union Minister of State (Home) Kiren Rijuju has been following his senior Manohar Parikar in his statements on the Kashmir situation and both gentlemen have never so far cared to sift facts from fiction.
“Both these Ministers have tried to leave other colleagues behind them in providing ‘negative inputs’ towards the strife in Kashmir which has continued to be a ‘law and order problem’ for them. These leaders have never cared to know facts about the unrest in Kashmir,” Prof Soz in a statement here said.
“While people like me have never approved of stone pelting as a right method of showing resistance to a situation of repression, Manohar Parikar and MoS Rijuju’s assertion that the stone throwing stopped due to ‘ demonetisation’ is a white lie. Even the Hurriyat leadership had openly disapproved of stone-pelting by the youngsters,” Soz added.
The Congress leader said if these Ministers, had cared to obtain information even from the Military Intelligence, they would know that throughout J&K State, particularly, in Kashmir, there were no long queues around Banks and ATMs and the people generally stayed unruffled.
“The people of Kashmir, however, feel deeply concerned for the common people in many parts in India who have expressed details of the inconveniences they have suffered, due to demonetization. These gentlemen are so obsessed with their design of thinking that they stand on their toes to seek credit for Modi, mostly undeservedly,” former PCC chief maintained.
