Reference Bar Association condemns demolition of platform at Mubarak Mandi (Daily Excelsior Aug 5, 2014). There is nothing surprising if MM Heritage Society have demolished this platform. Working upon their own agenda from day one, they have to convert this historical complex into a Tourist destination instead of restoration/preservation to its pristine glory. They need further appreciation for atleast sparing Mahatma Gandhi’s bust of Maharaja’s period, erected on one side of this platform. And Jammuites should wait when the society’s socalled Technical Committee decides to demolish the portion of Pink Hall where marble is seen inside and around.
Condemnation to this demolition by Bar Association, now, equally deserves appreciation. I still remember, previously when they were invited by the Heritage Society to visit Mubarak Mandi they showerd their praise to the society and its functioning through the esteemed columns of this paper. However, if they have sincerely come to understand and that the wrong is wrong, they are humbly requested to approach the Hon’ble Court to direct the State Govt. to hand over this already declared protected monument to ASI who are already maintaining as much as 70 such monuments in J&K. Why such a step motherly treatment to Mubarak Mandi only.
