RAMBAN, May 27: Demolition drive undertaken by Collector Land Acquisition National Highway Ramban team has evoked resentment among locals.
As per reports, a team of officers led by Collector Land Acquisition Jammu Srinagar National Highway (ADC) Ramban Dr Bashrat Hussain launched demolition drive at Kunfer and Chanderkote area of this Ramban.
During the drive around three hotel buildings shops and structures were demolished by the team.
“No notice was served earlier and all of sudden the team of officers appeared with men and machinery and started demolishing standing structures that have came under alignment of NH at village Kunfer and Chanderkote”, a hotel owner Abdul Lateeif Giri said, adding that his hotel was demolished without serving any notice and compensation of the land and structure.
The customers got sacred after a team of officers entered into Dhabas and hotels and ordered for dismantling the structures, the locals said.
The elected representatives of the village have sought action against the officials who carried out this demolition drive.
They said that concerned officials will be made responsible for legal consequences and victims should be compensated as soon as possible.
Another hotel owner Ram Kumar Sharma said that the action of the Collector Land Acquisition was totally illegal and motivated.
