Deliver prompt, quick services to achieve set targets: Sakina

JAMMU, Nov 6: Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, today exhorted upon the officers to be prompt and quick to ensure enhanced services to needy and downtrodden with emphasis on far flung and remote areas.
“To meet people’s aspirations in all aspects is the priority of present dispensation and it should be the prime concern of officers to transform Government’s words into actions”, she maintained. She said it is the dream of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to empower the people of the state socially, economically and politically as well which is being realized with the support of the common masses.
The Minister was addressing the officers while chairing a high level meeting convened to review functioning of the department.
The meeting discussed various issues related to betterment of weaker sections including implementation of Domestic Violence Act, appointment of Protection Officers, amendment in J&K Juvenile Justice Act and implementation of IPCs, action plan under TSP and Article 275, release of funds under ICDS, SABLA, IGMSY, TSP and furnishing of utilization certificate, construction of cultural centres for G&B & PSP, grant -in-aid cases, pre-matric and post-matric scholarships, court cases besides regularization of contractual, adhoc and migrant substitutes.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner/Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Jeet Lal Gupta, Director, M.H. Bhatta, Managing Director, SC, ST and BC Development Corporation, Ghulam Rasool, Additional Secretary, Bashir Ahmed Wani, Director Rehabilitation Council, Hafiza Muzaffer, Secretary, G.H. Wani and OSD, G. N. Itoo.
The Minister enquired from the Deputy Commissioners about follow up action taken by them in finalization of action plan under TPS and Article 275. In this regard, she directed them to submit the required information to her office within a week’s time so that the matter may be finalized at earliest.
The Minister asked the Commissioner/Secretary to follow the court cases on priority basis.
The Minister also reviewed the follow up action on decisions taken in various Advisory Board meetings including opening of Mobile Schools, Mobile Medial Aid Centres, construction of transitory sheds, release of funds under SCA to SCP for SC’s and SCA to TSP for ST’ beneficiaries, proposal of enhancement of subsidy component from Rs.3000 to Rs.10, 000 in favour of BC category beneficiaries.
