JAMMU, Dec 12: Former Member Parliament and State president of Samajwadi Party (SP), Sheikh Abdul Rehman has said that Delhiites have shown beacon light to the whole nation signaling that corrupt and communal politicians can be shown the door through honest and clean image during the elections.
Addressing press conference here today, the Samajwadi Party leader referred to the Delhi verdict of the electorates and said that Delhiites have taken a lead in showing right path to the countrymen by electing honest and clean image people. He said Arvind Kejriwal can rightly be acclaimed for providing the people an option against Congress and BJP.
Mr Rehman said now the time has come that at national level there is urgent need to provide a federal third front to uproot Congress and BJP comprising like-minded regional parties.
The SP leader pointed out that in the recent elections BJP has done fairly well but the results should not be construed as the popularity of BJP. In fact, people of the country are fed up with Congress because of unprecedented corruption, price hike and mis-governance and the people had no choice but to opt for a lesser evil. Virtually, both Congress and BJP are corrupt with capitalistic leaning.
Coming down heavily on NC-led coalition Government in the State, Rehman said constitutional institutions like Panchayati Raj, Local Bodies etc have been destroyed. Unfortunately NC which is raking up autonomy slogan since long is now willing to allow powers to percolate at the grass- root level. The elections to the Block Development Councils were never held and the District Development Boards are not in existence. He stressed for empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions. Mr Rehman further claimed that SP is strongly in favour of Federal United Front to give the people an alternative choice against the `corrupt and communal’ Congress, BJP, PDP and National Conference.
