More delegations call on Rajnath

Jammu, Sept 13: A deputation of Displaced Persons led by former Minister and Congress leader Manjit Singh called on Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh  here yesterday and demanded to ensure easy process of documentation for package
which is already delayed from last two years. The deputation comprising of representatives of displaced persons of 1965 and 1971, met Rajnath Singh and appraised him about the problems being faced by them.
It informed that the Displaced Persons have been put to unnecessary harassment by the lower rank officers of the concerned departments with regard to the completion of formalities. “These formalities are difficult and cannot be fulfilled by the DPs because most of them don’t have documents like ration cards etc of the place where from they escaped,” Manjit Singh said.
Another delegation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by its State president and former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh and submitted a memorandum to him.
The memorandum demanded delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary Constituencies in the State said that Jammu having more population and area than Kashmir has less Lok Sabha and Assembly seats which is a great discrimination with this region. It also demanded NIA investigation on the successive State government’s right from 1975 as those who were in these governments have amassed a huge wealth.
The memorandum also demanded justice for the refugees and migrants especially West Pak refugees and the Safari Karmacharis from Punjab who were brought to serve the State in early sixties and were deprived of their rights till date.
It also demanded implementation of Gajinder Gadkar, Sikri and Wazir Commission recommendations which have been buried under carpet.
It stressed on ending the discrimination with Jammu and Ladakh regions.
