JAMMU, July 22: We were optimistic about Narendra Modi Government that our displacement would come to an end during his regime and we will be re-connected back to our land of origin without further delay. The microscopic community of Kashmiri Pandits have already lost two generations during the long exile of 32 years and more delay in our return can be proved counterproductive for the nation and the nationalist forces in Kashmir Valley.

This was disclosed by RK Bhat, President YAIKS and North India Coordinator of GKPD while interacting with media persons here today.
Sanjay Ganjoo, Manoj Handoo, BK Bhat, Sanjay Raina, Ashwani Kak, Neeraj Koul, Vinod Bhat, Kamal Tak, Ajay Pandita, Vishal Dhar and Vicky Koul were among others present during the conference.
While referring the recent meeting of the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha with the UT Administration in which the directions were passed to expedite work of 6000 transit accommodations in the Valley and registering the entire Kashmiri Pandits, Bhat criticizes and rejects the proposal of 1 BHK flats instead of already sanctioned 2 BHK flats by the previous Governments. He said till the construction is completed, the vacant accommodation of the Secretariat employees may be provided to migrant employees.
He said that the transit accommodation shall be made on the pattern of Sheikhpura Construction (2 BHK) at already selected locations for the entire migrant employees (PM and Non-PM package employees). He demanded immediate construction and completion of all 550 flats at Vessu Pandit Colony that already stands sanctioned for the employees staying in that area, immediate allotment/possession of quarters to already allotted employees at Vessu and exempt PM Package employees from the recently announced GAD SO 194 otherwise it will be injustice with them.
“Government of India should form an Apex Committee of the real representatives of Kashmiri Pandits headed by Home Minister of India to discuss the return module and comprehensive rehabilitation package”, he added.
He also demanded political empowerment by reserving 5 Assembly and two Parliament seats, preservation and protection of temples and shrines in Kashmir Valley, restoration of encroached land and Rs 32 lakh (1 lakh per year) compensation to over-aged youth of the community.
“These demands need to be addressed before any announcement of KPs return in real sense”, YAIKS President said.
