JAMMU, Jan 18: Apni Party Provincial President Women Wing Namrta Sharma today criticized Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for its failure to install street lights in several areas of Gandhi Nagar.
“The street lights in some of the areas have become defunct and they were not replaced in Gandhi Nagar. There is hardly any garbage collection from these areas,” Namrta said while addressing party workers and Apni Party leaders meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Apni Party leader Abhay Bakaya, Vinod Pandita, Sunita Kumari, Preeti Gupta, Shyama Gupta, Indu Gupta, Santosh Kumari, Pooja Devi, Jyoti, Neelam Kumari, Sharda Devi and others.
Namrta said that the residential areas lack basic amenities and the hardship of the people is countless.
She said that the drainage system has exposed the poor planning of JMC and water logging in many areas during rains has emerged as the main issue.
Namrta appealed to the JMC authorities to look into the issues for their early redressal.
“The people especially women face problems because of the defunct street lights as they are not able to go out and it has also given rise to the activities of anti-social elements,” she said.
Sharma said that the Corporation should review the developmental activities and basic amenities in Gandhi Nagar for the betterment of the people.
She said that it is also the failure of the representatives of the ruling political party.
