BHOPAL, Aug 10 : Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted on Sunday that no power in the world can stop India from progressing and developing into a major world economic power in the coming years.
Insinuating at the US and US President Donald Trump, Singh said ‘some people’ are unhappy and cannot bear to see India’s rapid development and progress in all sectors, so they are trying that the things made in India, by the hands of Indians, become more expensive than the things made in those countries, so that when the Indian products become expensive, the world will not buy them.
“In spite of such efforts, I say with full confidence that no power in the world can stop India from becoming a major world economic power,” Singh asserted.
Rajnath Singh was speaking after laying the foundation stone of the Rs 1800 crore rail coach factory of the ‘Bharat Earth Movers Limited’ (BEML) in Umaria village of Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh.
Named ‘BRAHMA’ (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing), the project would be built on an area of more than 60 hectares of land, and is likely to generate direct and indirect employment for more than 5000 people.
He called the project a key step in boosting India’s industrial and defence self-reliance.
The unit will manufacture coaches of India’s premium trains including Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and the Metro rail. Singh said that the unit would produce advanced rolling stock for domestic and export markets, and is expected to catalyse local supply chains in the state’s industrial belt.
The Defence Minister pointed out that initiatives like BRAHMA are crucial in building the industrial and technological base needed for both national security and economic growth.
Praising the development efforts of Madhya Pradesh, Rajnath Singh remarked that in the coming years, Madhya Pradesh will be known as ‘Modern Pradesh’.
Rajnath Singh said India always aims at not just its own welfare and progress but also that of the entire world. He informed that India is now exporting defence equipment worth more than Rs 24000 crore across the world.
The Defence Minister pointed out that India never attacks anyone, but if anyone attacks us, then will always give a befitting reply.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present on the occasion.
The unit comes in the Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, represented by Chouhan.
Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also joined the programme virtually. (UNI)
