JAMMU, Oct 17: District Information Centre (DIC) Rajouri organized a debate competition on the topic “Disaster Management” at the Government Degree College (GDC),Budhal.
SDM, Sukhpal Singh, was the chief guest and District Information Officer, Ashima Iqbal was the guest of honour.
Principal, Shakeel Raina, lecturers and a huge gathering of students and local people of the area attended the programme.
Nearly 10 students participated in the debate competition in which Shabana, Sakina and Rohit Rather were adjudged at 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
A colourful multilingual programme was also organized where in students of the college as well as renowned artists kept the audience spell bound with their performances. The artists presented their songs in Gojri, Pahari, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Kashmiri.
Speaking on the ocassion, the SDM stressed upon the need for formulation and strict implementation of State as well as district disaster management plan to minimize the loss of life and property during disasters.
At the end, prizes were distributed among the winner students and participants.
