JAMMU, Mar 14: The dead body of a boy, who had allegedly committed suicide on March 6 by jumping into Chenab river from new bridge in Akhnoor area, was found today on the bank of river Chenab in Pargwal area.
According to a police spokesperson, the deceased has been identified as Aman Kumar (17) son of Bachchan Lal, a resident of Jungbari, Purkhoo, in city outskirts. He said his dead body was spotted on the bank of the river in Pargwal area of Akhnoor this afternoon by some villagers, who informed the police.
He said the police reached the spot and shifted the body to Sub-District Hospital Akhnoor, where after conducting post mortem it was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
A case in this connection has been registered at concerned police station and proceedings initiated under 174 CrPC.
