JAMMU, Sept 7: Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), University of Jammu (JU) organized a guest lecture for MA Urdu (Ist and IIIrd semester) distance learners, as a part of its guest lecture series.
Dr Saheb Ali, Professor and Head, Department of Urdu, University of Mumbai delivered thought-provoking and interesting lectures on “Life and work of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan”. Prof Ali described Sir Syed Ahmed Khan as a reformer, who played a major role in promoting social, scientific, economic and educational development of common Indians.
The lectures offered a refreshing perspective on the state of affairs in the field of Urdu prose. The distance learners took keen interest in the lectures. The question and answer session following each lecture was stimulating and equally engaging for the listeners.
Besides Prof Saheb Ali, the guest speaker, Director DDE, Dr Liaqat Ali, Dr Farhat Shamim and Dr Mohd Ali Shehbaz also spoke on the occasion.
The lecture series is a part of DDE’s quality initiatives in academics and to expose distance learners to a wider horizon of knowledge.
