DDCs of Samba, Kathua conduct joint review of PDD, PHE

SAMBA, Sept 12: The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Samba Sheetal Nanda and DDC Kathua, Ramesh Kumar today convened a joint meeting to review functioning of PDD and PHE departments of the two districts at Samba.
The DDCs directed the officials to regularise the illegal connections by following proper procedure. They were directed to launch awareness campaigns in specific areas and give wide publicity. It was decided that PDD would organise “Save Electricity Campaign” from schools.
The PDD was directed to provide details of transformers purchased in the year, capacity of transformers in the district and actual load running on these transformers. The officers were asked for reasons for repeated transformer damage which was beyond the acceptable limit. For public convenience, STD wing was directed to avoid evening power cuts. It was decided that inter district and inter subdivision teams be constituted for reducing electricity and water theft.
The DDCs emphasised on better coordination between the departments of the two districts. Both the departments were asked to pay special focus to their working and public dealing by activating Mohalla Sudhar Committees and forming prominent citizen groups.
