KATHUA, Sept 26: District Development Council (DDC) member Bani Reeta Thakur kick-started the fencing work of the Jourian Mata temple here today. She was accompanied by Sarpanch Panchayat Banjal, Sushil Singh on the occasion.
It is pertinent to mention here that this shrine of Jourian Mata houses the Sheetla Mata temple in Tehsil Bani of District Kathua and it had been a long pending demand of the people of this area besides the devotees visiting this shrine that the premises of this famous shrine should be fenced properly for protection and ensuring that stray cattle and dogs remain out of the shrine premises.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion, DDC member Reeta Thakur said that with the execution of today’s work the long pending demand of the people, especially the devotees has got fulfilled. She said that overall development is on top of Central Govt’s agenda and the Centre is specially committed to overall development of remote and far flung areas. She said that she is fully aware of the dilapidated condition of the road connecting to this highly revered shrine and assured the people that she would soon initiate measures for developing this road as an all weather link road.
Reeta Thakur said that she would also formulate a beautification plan for this famous shrine of Jourian Mata/ Sheetla Mata Temple in order to ensure maximum footfall of devotees and visitors in this area. Meanwhile, the people of Bani present on the occasion thanked DDC member Reeta Thakur for the initiative thus fulfilling their long pending demand.
