UDHAMPUR, Apr 5: District Development Commissioner Dr. Piyush Singla today took stock of arrangements for the three-day Baisakhi Mela commencing from April 14 at Devika Ghat.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gurvinderjeet Singh, GM DIC, Suram Chand Sharma, IAS Probationer, Santosh Sukhedeve, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Vikar Giri, Mela Officer Tehsildar, Udhampur Mohit Gupta and other concerned were present in the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements related to security, safe drinking water, power supply, barricading, first-aid, sanitation etc. Directions were issued to district heads of various departments to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective departments well before the start of the Mela.
A team was constituted to keep a check on sub-standard food items during the Mela days. Preparedness for organising cultural programmes during the 3 day event was also discussed.
PHE Department was asked to make provision for drinking water while Municipal authorities and Health Department were directed to ensure proper cleansing and medical facilities at the Mela.
