KATHUA, July 21: District Development Commissioner Kathua, Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting to discuss the arrangements for annual Kailash Yatra commencing from August 6.
The DDC stressed on making elaborate arrangements for pilgrims and directed Rural Development Department to take up the necessary repair of bridle path from Chatter Gala to Chattri- en-route to Kailash Kund. He directed the officials to install temporary toilets on the yatra route, while Health Department was asked to keep available well-equipped ambulance en-route yatra along with medicines and medical staff to meet any health emergency.
The meeting also discussed the provision of water connections at identified Langar sites. The DDC directed Executive Engineer PDD for making proper arrangement of illumination on these sites with alternate arrangements during curtailments. Similarly, he asked the officials to make provision of solar lights along the Yatra route.
It was given out that SDM Bani has been designated as the Yatra Nodal Officer to coordinate necessary Yatra arrangements. He was directed to establish control room for better coordination during Yatra.
District Police was entrusted with the task of providing full proof security through the Yatra track along with 24X7 control room and traffic authorities were directed to ensure smooth conduct of traffic during yatra days.
The meeting was attended by ADC Dr. Bharat Bhushan, ASP Khalil Poswal, ACD, SE PDD, District Information Officer, CMO, BDOs, Tehsildars, Engineers from various departments, Chairman Tourism Promotion Council, Members of Tourism Council & Tourism Board, representatives of NGOs and Members of Langar committees.
