DDC reviews JKEDI progress

Reasi, Feb 3:  In a meeting chaired by DDC Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary the progress achieved by the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) was reviewed.
The meeting cum awareness on JKEDI schemes was attended by ACR Tilak Raj Shastri, ACD Joginder Rai, GM DIC Krishan Lal and various district and sectoral officers.
Dr Imtiaz , who is the District Nodal Officer of JKEDI gave power point presentation on the occasion. He informed that the main aim of JKEDI is to train the youth, sanction seed capital and help entrepreneurs in preparation of detailed project reports besides ensuring hassle free loan from banks.
Giving detail of achievements in the district he informed that about 1000 participants are covered under awareness and around 52 participants have been imparted training. 27 cases have been disbursed under seed capital Financial Scheme and 10 cases have been disbursed under National Minority Development and Financial Corporation Scheme.
Dr Choudhary  said the answer to the unemployment crisis is not in providing Government jobs to youth but nurturing their talent and facilitating them financially and technically to earn independent livelihood not only for them but for others also.
There is a need to create awareness among people about these schemes and all line departments should come forward for this and the members of PRIs should also be involved to create awareness among general masses, Dr Choudhary added.
