ANANTNAG, July 11: District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Saugat Biswas today reviewed the implementation of Centrally Sponsored flagship programmes Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan component wise at a meeting held at the District Headquarters.
The physical, financial targets and achievements of 2013-14 and proposed targets of 2014-15 were discussed in detail.
Biswas, who is also the Chairperson of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan informed that the Zonal Education Officers henceforth will pay personal attention to the development and maintenance of libraries in all schools, to the working of the gender coordinators with a view to increasing enrollment of girl children, proper utilization of funds for Teaching and Learning Equipment and Material, and Teacher Grant. He further informed that red accounts of expenditure incurred on various heads under SSA such as Community mobilization has been called from all ZEOs along with outcomes of these expenditures.
He directed SE R&B to speed up the construction of left over school buildings under RMSA, so that school going children do not face any kind of difficulty which is the main motive behind the Centrally sponsored schemes.
DDC also directed for integrating the common people with educational setup by organizing fruitful community mobilization programmes. He also directed for conducting of special enrollment drives to streamline the “drop out” and never enrolled children especially girls. DDC also directed Chief Education Officer to ensure fort-nightly progress/expenditure reports from concerned headmasters. Implementation of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), in letter and spirit has been asked for.
He instructed for providing of drinking water facilities to left-over schools at an earliest. District Development Commissioner stressed upon implementation of District Development Board decisions under education sector and ensure transparency at all levels.
The meeting was attended by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Joint Director (Planning), SE R&B, XEn R&B, Khanabal /Vailoo and Qazigund all the ZEO’s and other concerned officers.
