SRINAGAR, Jan 29:  In order to redress the issues, problems and demands of the people of Kupwara district, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, today conducted a public darbar at Government Boys High School (GBHS), Keegam.
Officers and engineers of different departments, public representatives and prominent people of the area were present in the public darbar, during which people issues related to drinking water, electricity, improvement in developmental activities, restoration of drinking water resources, renovation of roads, irrigation facilities to farming communities, dismantling of old and unsafe school buildings for widening of sports field and fencing of schools at Keegam, sanitation units for religious places, besides providing of bus service to the Keegam and other areas of the block were put forth.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC assured the public that their grievances and genuine demands would be resolved in suitable time frame, while some demands of urgent nature were accepted on the spot.
He directed the Assistant Commissioner Development Kupwara to carry out the works under labour budget as Rs 86000 stands released for the purpose to generate many days of work in the area besides taking necessary steps to repair, renovation and connect facilities to Kandi and Keegam areas.
Referring to the Agriculture and Horticulture sectors he assured the hail storm affected farmers would be provide compensation against their losses in due course of time as the matter is in progress.
However he impressed upon the farming community that they should adopt the High Density Plantation pattern gardens for high yielding quality fruits through utilizing latest technology for this purpose.
The DDC also announced an ambulance for local health centre and assured to remove scarcity of teaching staff in the schools. He appealed the public to save the precious forests and its produce, natural water resources and desist from throwing the polythene and plastic products in these precious water resources.
