Reasi (Bidda), Nov 1 : Self Help Groups are vital for the development of remote villages, said Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, who inaugurated 7th Amul exclusive outlet in the district at 126 Bn CRPF, Headquarter Bidda.
Quoting the example of Amul success story, he said a small movement started in 1946 is now India’s largest milk manufacturer which is catering the demand of over 1.2 billion people across the country and providing livelihood opportunities to 32 lakh farmers.
Giving the detail, Aditya Gole, Senior Executive, GCMMF Ltd. (Amul) said that, at present Amul is procuring 466 crore litres of milk per annum from the farmers across Gujarat and having a turnover of around Rs. 14000 crores making Amul Asia’s largest milk brand. The motive behind the opening of Amul exclusive store at 126 Bn CRPF Bidda is to facilitate the jawans who are serving the nation at the higher peaks and tough mountain terrains.
Among others, GM Salal Power station, AG Ansari, Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Sharif Chauhan, Commanding Officer 126 Bn Udai Pratap Singh and officials from Salal Power station, CRPF and civil dignitaries also graced the occasion.
