JAMMU, Apr 29: Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Nuzhat Ishfaq and Bilal Ahmed Sheikh, vice chairperson, DDC Ganderbal have taken serious exception to the behavior of the DC Ganderbal towards the public representatives of the area.
In a signed letter to Union Home Minister the Chairperson, DDC, its vice chairperson and other members alleged that the DC never gives audience to the DDC members. Moreover, the Vice Chairperson once tried to meet her but he was not allowed to enter the office by the person sitting outside of her office chamber.
Besides, the office given to DDC Ganderbal has a story to tell. It is stinking and seeping. During the rainy season or snow days the members have to remain at their residences only.
The letter also alleged that in clear violation of settled instruction and guidelines the first quarter of district plans have been released to respective departments and the DDC members or their PRIs have not been consulted or informed by the administration which shows their total callousness towards the DDCs.
It said that more so as many as five requests by Chairperson DDC Ganderbal to DC Ganderbal for discussing the plans, proposals fell flat.
It said last week a review of Department of Jal Shakti was got conducted by M Raju, Secretary Jal Shakti Department of J&K UT at Ganderbal in presence of Deputy Commissioner as well as concerned officers but the DDC members were neither called nor given an opportunity to put their point in review meeting. It said that the elected representatives of DDC who are the main pillar of three-tier Panchyati Raj system are being ignored in total violation of the instructions of the GoI as well as Union Home Ministry which is a cause of concern for one an all.
Seeking immediate intervention of Amit Shah, the letter urged him to ensure that the institution is ensured to bloom and blossom with full grace and people of J&K will heave a sigh of relief after decades of neglect and alienation.
