DDC Chairman’s son among two killed

JAMMU, July 11: Two persons including son of DDC Chairman Udhampur were killed when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into deep gorge near Jethli area at Surinsar.
As per police sources, a car bearing registration number HP71A-0555 was on its way to Mansar from Surinsar when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve resulting the vehicle plunged into deep gorge near Jethli area at Surinsar late last night.
In the accident, two persons including son of DDC Chairman Udhampur got seriously injured and were rushed to nearby ASCOMS Hospital, where they failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to their injuries.
The deceased were identified as Vikram Samotra, son of Lal Chand (DDC Chairman Udhampur), a resident of Jib Thathi District Udhampur and Abhinandan Baigra, son of late Subash Baigra, a resident of Jawahar Nagar New Plot District Jammu.
After conducting post-mortem at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, the bodies were handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
