DDC Chairman honours Veer Naris on Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Day

KATHUA, Apr 13: Col Mahan Singh (Retd) DDC Chairman Kathua honoured Veer Naris belonging to Basohli Sub District region on the occasion of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre Day.
A simple event was organized at the auditorium of Government Degree College Basohli where DDC Chairman was the chief guest. He was accorded a warm welcome by GDC Basohli Principal Dr Nidhi Kotwal, College faculty members and students. Prominent among others who accompanied the DDC Chairman were Kewal Dudadia, Yubkaran Singh, Pinki Jasrotia and Kartar Chand.
The event began with the lighting of traditional lamp and paying homage to the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs by the chief guest Col Mahan Singh after which about a dozen Veer Naris were honoured by presenting mementos to them in presence of a huge gathering of College faculty members, students and residents of the area.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairman narrated the circumstances leading to Jallianwala Bagh massacre and called it the biggest black spot on the erstwhile British rule over India.
While paying homage to the martyrs, he assured the Veer Naris that he will leave no stone unturned in ensuring them a dignified and hassle free living.
Col Mahan later visited the Government Degree College and inaugurated a newly established Gymnasium Hall within college premises.
He also had one to one meeting with College Principal to know about various issues including construction of multipurpose hall, library, boys and girls hostels and demarcation of land allocated to college. He assured the College administration all possible help to address their issues.
Col Mahan also inspected the ongoing work of wayside amenities at Plahi on Purthu Road and the under construction state of the art Water Sports Academy at Atal Sethu Road.
He was accompanied by Xen PWD Basohli on the occasion. The DDC Chairman asked the Xen to pace up the works on the ongoing projects.
