DD FPF, 20-yr-old girl among 5 die in Jammu, 4 in Ladakh

JAMMU, Nov 24: A Deputy Director of Forest Protection Force (FPF) and a 20-year-old girl were among five persons who died of COVID-19 in Jammu region today while 253 persons tested positive and 220 others recovered from the virus.
The Union Territory of Ladakh especially Leh district continued to show surge in Corona fatalities with four more persons including a woman succumbing to the virus and 83 fresh cases all but one of which were reported in Leh today.
Fifty-seven-year-old Deputy Director of the Forest Protection Force posted at Billawar in Kathua district and hailing from Amowal, Tholori in Bari Brahmana area of Samba district died of Coronavirus in Narayana Hospital Katra today.
The officer along with some family members had tested positive for pathogen after a marriage ceremony.
A 20-year-old girl from Chak Udhampur died of COVID-19 at home. She was also suffering from Type 1Diabetes Mellitus.
An 86-year-old man hailing from Sainik Colony in Jammu district died of co-morbidities and Coronavirus in the Narayana Hospital Katra three days after admission.
A 45-year-old man from village Bagla in Doda district died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Doda. He was hospitalized after testing positive for the virus but had no co-morbidity. He suddenly suffered cardiac arrest today and died in the hospital.
A 65-year-old man from Gangyal was brought dead to the GMC Jammu and tested positive for the virus.
The Deputy Commissioner Ramban, who had tested positive for the virus, has been admitted in the Narayana Hospital Katra from home isolation after he developed certain complications. Her five-year-old daughter has also tested COVID positive.
Four members of a family from Muthi, three from BSF Paloura, three family members from Nanak Nagar and siblings from Kachi Chawni tested positive for COVID-19 today.
Positive cases in Jammu district include five from NITCO Logistics Talab Tillo, 11 Domana, five each Ragunath Bazaar and Janipur, four each Panjtirthi Chowk and Poonch House Talab Tillo, three each Sari Rakwala and Kunjwani Chowk, two each at Narwal, Parade and Kunjwani and one each at Jewel Chowk and Muthi.
Among 253 Corona positive cases in Jammu region today, 122 were reported from Jammu district followed by 37 Udhampur, 18 Ramban, 17 Samba, 16 Kishtwar, 14 Doda, 11 Poonch, nine Kathua, six Reasi and three in Rajouri district.
Of 220 persons, who recovered from the virus today, 125 hailed from Jammu district, 59 Udhampur, 20 Ramban, five each Rajouri and Doda, four Poonch and two in Kathua district. No recoveries were reported from Samba, Kishtwar and Reasi districts.
Jammu region now has 42825 Corona cases. Among them, 1911 are active and 40348 have recovered from the virus while there have been 566 casualties.
Jammu district has highest casualties of 292 followed by 53 Doda, 49 Rajouri, 43 Udhampur, 35 Kathua, 29 Samba, 22 Poonch, 18 Ramban, 16 Kishtwar and nine in Reasi district.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today reported four Corona casualties and 83 new cases.
All four fatalities were reported in Leh district.
An 84-year-old man from Leh, who was co-morbid and suffering from COVID Pneumonia, an 85-year-old man from Phang Thangnak and 67-year-old woman from Choglamsar Kharnaglingpa, who were positive for the virus died today.
Fourth casualty was also reported in Leh district.
The UT of Ladakh reported 83 new cases today including 82 in Leh and one in Kargil district.
Ladakh now has 8028 Corona cases. Of them, 854 are active positives and 7069 have recovered from the virus. There have been 105 casualties—64 in Leh and 41 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, lockdown was observed voluntarily by the people in Leh for second consecutive day today on the call of Civil Society to check spread of Coronavirus.
